In accordance with exempt resolution No. 495 of the Ministry of Health, which approved the “Protected Borders” Plan, and whose most recent modification corresponds to January 25, 2023, three alert levels were established in Chile to determine entry and exit restrictions, which differ from one another depending on whether or not there is a new variant of Covid-19 and taking into account the preparation of the country to respond to its prevention and control.
Alert Level 1 is currently active in our country, so there are no travel restrictions to enter or leave the country, other than a PCR test that can be randomly applied to resident and non-resident foreigners (tourists) who enter from abroad. If the test result is positive, the person must quarantine for 5 days.
In the specific case of non-resident foreign tourists, they may enter Chile with their identification document and a complete vaccination certificate against Covid-19, issued by the country where the vaccine was administered.
Nevertheless, if the person is over 18 years old and has not been vaccinated, they must present a negative PCR taken with a maximum of 48 hours before boarding the means of transport to Chile.
